We have raised $200,231.00 to combat hunger since our first walk in 2008, including over $65,000 to our local agency God’s Storehouse. Our goal is to take the 2021 CROP Walk to the next level: more walkers and more funds raised for God’s Storehouse and Church World Service, and more awareness about hunger and poverty here in Danville and around the world.
Teams have the option of participating virtually or in-person at Ballou Park
Virtually: Teams can decide to walk as a team at a separate location or walk individually. Virtual participants will commit to walk at a time and place of their choosing-- in their neighborhood, on the Riverwalk, on their treadmill, etc. COVID precautions such as masking and socially distancing are encouraged if walking with non-family groups. Please have team members sign COVID Waivers if walking together. Take videos and pictures to add to Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #endhunger.
In-Person at Ballou Park: The walk will look a little different this year. Teams will have designated meet up locations on the lawn at Ballou Park that will be marked by balloons with your team color (see below). Team members should find their teams and stay within their teams. A volunteer will come to you to get everyone signed in and to collect any checks or cash, and you do not need to go to the registration table. Teams should remain in their spots during the kick off, and your team will be announced when it is time for you to start walking. We will have a scaled back kickoff to our walk, and teams will be given staggered walk times. We are encouraging teams to wear shirts with their assigned color or shirts with your organization name to help walkers find their teams. We chose not to order t-shirts this year because of the hybrid model of the walk and because we wanted more of our funds to go directly to our organizations to fight hunger and poverty during this time of great need.
We are requesting that all walkers older than 2 years-old wear masks. If you are uncomfortable wearing a mask, you should choose the virtual option for participation. We are very concerned about contributing to community spread and do not want to stress our already overburdened healthcare system and our healthcare workers.
Team Balloon Colors: Team members may also choose to wear shirts with their color to make it easier to find each other.
