Many thanks to those who helped us raise $16,682 last October. Our team was ranked #8 amongst Crop Walk Teams Nationwide. Local pride!
Why support the Crop Walk? Because you want to help families locally and abroad who are struggling with hunger.
Because worldwide between 702 and 828 million people were affected by hunger in 2021. 46 million more than in the previous year. According to the World Food Program, 345 million people in 82 countries are in danger of dying due to insufficient food. Extreme weather, wars, the pandemic, and high inflation are all creating havoc with people’s access to adequate food. This is intolerable.
- Because a quarter of the money raised is returned to Madison County’s local food cupboards and the Friendship Inn. Suzanne Collins of the local Food Cupboard notes that they have been serving between 108 and 133 households this year. The number of local families concerned about where they will find their next meal has increased greatly. They are seeing increases in both the number of households as well as those who come in several times a month.
Church World Service’s goal is “building a world where there is enough for all”. They provide expert guidance, supplies and funding to help struggling communities overcome their most pressing challenges whether it is clean water, sanitation, child nutrition, or farming sustainably in a world of climate change. They provide assistance to the refugees, immigrants, victims of natural disasters and struggling farmers.
Thanks for helping us out this year. The steps we take - and the funds we raise - will provide meals in our community and long-lasting solutions to hunger and poverty around the world.
