The Midland Area CROP Hunger Walk has been a staple in the Midland Community for more than 50 years! In fact, it is one of the longest or THE longest running fundraising walk in the Midland area. Over the past 50 years, Midlander’s have raised well over $1.3 million dollars of which 25% of these funds have remained in the Midland Area to help fight hunger. The agencies who benefit from these funds are:
Midland County Emergency Food Pantry
Midland’s Open Door
The Salvation Army Food Program.
The remaining funds are distributed through Church World Service (CWS) who provide emergency assistance to people worldwide. CWS was here when the dams broke in 2021 by providing necessary cleaning and hygiene supplies to those in need.
This year, CWS is focusing on “Building Global Resilience” and highlighting how temperature increases, changes in rainfall patterns, and the slow-onset of climate change will affect, and in some cases devastate, vulnerable communities in the future. This is why our CROP Hunger Walk is so important.
We want you to be a part of it all. Join a local Church team, community group, or register yourself and create your own CROP Hunger Walk team and walk to help end hunger one step at a time! Be the Change.
We will begin and end our walk this year at the old Farmer’s Market located at the foot of Ashman Street (same location as last year). Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. official start time for the walk.
Participants who raise $150 or more for the walk will receive our Midland Area CROP Hunger Walk t-shirt as a momento.
For those unable to join the group on October 1, we encourage you to walk with family or friends whenever or wherever. Whether you join us at the old Farmer’s Market, walk around the block, around your neighborhood, or simply around your living room, your dedication to helping our most vulnerable neighbors in Midland and beyond is extraordinary.
Once again, the Friends of CROP support the administrative costs of the local CROP Hunger Walk, ensuring that all money raised by walk participants goes to hunger relief and self-help development projects. We would like to THANK the following Friends:
