As you are likely aware, the current administration has cut financial support for many leading aid agencies, such as USAID. The cuts extend to many other smaller aid agencies that work globally and locally. Unfortunately, Church World Services (CWS) has been severely impacted by the cuts. The cuts have resulted in major reductions in CWS staffing and programs in the US and around the world. Also, CWS has not received payment for completed contracted work done in November and December of 2024.
Our fall Walpole CROP Walk is one of many walks around the country and overseas that supports CWS in their mission to address poverty, hunger, displacement and disaster. The funds from these walks are unrestricted and, therefore, especially needed now to allow CWS to manage the current funding crisis as nimbly as possible.
Our local CROP Walk leadership committee has decided to respond to these devastating cuts by reaching out to all of you to ask for your financial support for CWS during this time of need. Your extra support right now would be so appreciated.
We are planning to have our Walpole CROP Hunger Walk in the fall as usual. Please mark your calendar for October 11, 2025. We look forward to seeing you then. In the meantime, thank you so much for your support of this organization that does so much good at home and around the world. Please pass this on to friends and family.
