About Greater Lansing CROP Hunger Walk

No one in this world should be hungry. That's why the Greater Lansing CROP Hunger Walk is more than just a gathering of people in a place. We're part of a movement, taking steps and raising funds together to provide meals for those in our own community who need them - and supporting programs that create greater food security in communities all around the world.

Please join us in the fight against hunger. The steps we take and funds we raise will make a difference in the lives of others.

Team Captains - Join us for the Team Captain Rally on Monday, August 26 from 6pm-7pm at Edgewood UCC- 469 N. Hagadorn Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823! Hear about the Okemos Community Food Pantry, CWS trip to Africa, funds collection, and much more!

Greater Lansing CROP Hunger Walk Local Recipients:

  • Advent House Ministries - provides food, day shelter, and self-help programs to low income and homeless people in Lansing. Programs work to improve families’ and individuals’ ability to provide for themselves and become productive community members.
  • Grand Ledge Emergency Assistance Program - assists with utility bills, transportation, food, medicine, and housing needs for families within the Grand Ledge Public School District. Annually, GLEAP serves over 400 families.
  • Greater Lansing Food Bank - is a food source for over 150 nonprofit agencies who are fighting hunger in Mid-Michigan.
  • Okemos Community Food Pantry (Greater Lansing Food Bank partner) - assists families/households facing food insecurity in Okemos and the surrounding area by providing food and personal needs, in a way that promotes/values dignity, autonomy, and privacy. The pantry serves each Wednesday, by appointment (517-349-4220), and families may come once a month. 
  • South Lansing Ministries - serves the community with a food pantry, personal needs, computer bank, and other programs in Southwest Lansing. “Empowering People, Ending Poverty.”
  • Southside Community Kitchen - provides a nutritious lunch to anyone in need Mon. through Thurs. at St. Casimir’s, 800 W. Barnes and Tues. and Thurs. at Galilee Baptist on Reo Rd., 11:30 am to 12:15 pm. The mission is to help alleviate the hunger of many, especially children and senior citizens.
  • The Garden Project of the Greater Lansing Food Bank - supports community and home gardens enabling thousands of families to grow their own fresh vegetables. The Food Bank also organizes volunteers to harvest surplus produce for distribution to individuals in need of assistance.

YOUTH CHALLENGE
A team of three or more youth that raises $250 or more, receives a $125 matching gift credited to their team! Team Captains will report Youth Team participants and amounts raised. Team up - Raise funds - Do good!

*Following the CROP Hunger Walk, participants should turn in any cash or check donations to their team's CROP Team Captain by November 1st. The collection of funds/ingathering will be November 7.
