Walk. Give. Change the world.

Each year since 2010, my friend, Paul Chan completes a 50-mile South Rim to North Rim to South Rim trek in the Grand Canyon within a 24-hour period to raise awareness about global hunger and to walk in solidarity with those less fortunate. This hike is a spectacular meditation on how we, as individuals, can mobilize support for creative and sustainable solutions to hunger throughout the world. In total, the hikers ascend nearly 11,000 feet in elevation change during the 2 climbs. I have been part of this hike for 3 of these years, and I am excited to do this hike again for the FOURTH time.

The money we raise goes to Church World Service - an organization with a vision that hunger assistance should go beyond a hand-out. The funds we raise support potable water projects (which reduces diarrheal disease), frees girls to go to school and allows women to pursue other economic projects for income generation. The funds also support latrines and public hygiene initiatives to reduce rates of severe diarrhea, which remains the number 2 killer of children under 5 years of age worldwide. We support income-generating micro-business projects, empowering poor people with greater access to disposable income. And finally, the funds focus on food security for hungry people throughout the world, ensuring that all people have access to calories, protein, and micronutrients. A summary of key global development programs in CROP can be found at: cwsglobal.org/our-work/global-development.

Please help us and this cause by supporting our efforts. Our hiker group has walked a decade and a half together in a Grand effort to give voice to those who have no voice in our society. Many are hidden from our daily lives, but we choose to make their challenges our challenges as we share some of the good fortune and blessings we have had. As always, we are deeply appreciative of anything you can give to our efforts.

So, please join us in the fight against poverty and hunger. Simply click on the 'Donate" button on this web page, and you will be on your way to helping us reach our goals!!

With deep gratitude for your generous support,
