Walk. Give. Change the world.

Each year since 2010, we complete a 50-mile South Rim to North Rim to South Rim trek in the Grand Canyon within a 24-hour period to fund programs which address global hunger in a sustainable manner and to walk in solidarity with those less fortunate. This hike is a reminder as to how we, as individuals, can mobilize support for creative and sustainable solutions against hunger throughout the world. In total, we ascend nearly 11,000 feet in elevation change in one day during the 2 climbs.

The money we raise goes to Church World Service - an organization with a vision that hunger assistance should go beyond a hand-out. The funds support 1) potable water projects (which reduces diarrheal disease), frees girls to go to school and allows women to pursue other economic projects for income generation, 2) latrines and public hygiene initiatives to reduce rates of severe diarrhea (the second leading killer of children under 5 years of age worldwide), 3) income-generating micro-business projects (chickens, bees, goats) to increase disposable income and empower poor people, and 4) focus on food security for hungry people throughout the world, ensuring that all people have access to calories, protein, and micronutrients. A summary of key global development programs in CROP can be found at: https://cwsglobal.org/learn/hunger-and-poverty/. Together, we have raised ~$1.7 million to support programs which address hunger in the past 15 years alone!

This year has been a difficult year for our global village, with worsening drought in many parts of the world and loss of international development assistance at many programs. More than ever, the need for supporting sustainable solutions to hunger is high. We ask you to please consider supporting us with your generosity. We will have walked for 15 years together in a Grand effort to give voice to those who have no voice in our society. Many are hidden from our daily lives, but we choose to make their challenges our challenges as we share our good fortune and blessings.

Please join us in the fight against poverty and hunger. Simply click on the 'Donate" button on this web page, and you will be on your way to helping us reach our goals!!

With deep gratitude for your generous support,

Paul, Katie, John, Dylan, and the entire Hike Team
