Join fellow adventurers, justice-seekers, and CWS supporters for a once-in-a-lifetime trek through the Grand Canyon. Together, we’ll mark 80 years of Church World Service with an unforgettable journey of challenge, community and hope.
This is more than a hike. It’s a pilgrimage for justice – every step you take, and the funds you raise – provide just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. You can build a world where there is enough for all.
The Experience:
- March 27: Fly into Phoenix. Gather as a group for a short hike in Sedona, then continue to Flagstaff for an overnight stay.
- March 28: Travel to the Grand Canyon after securing food supplies in Flagstaff. Enjoy a wine & cheese welcome ceremony at the South Rim. Overnight at the Bright Angel Lodge cabins.
- March 29: The Grand Canyon Trek: 14–17 miles, descending the South Kaibab Trail, traversing the Tonto Trail, optional Plateau Point spur above the Colorado River, and ascending the Bright Angel Trail back to the South Rim. Participants will cover 3,500+ feet of elevation change. Overnight again at Bright Angel Lodge cabins.
- March 30: Drive back to Phoenix; participants fly home in late afternoon or evening.
